Question 1

Why can’t I right-click on some websites?

Accepted Answer

Either the page runs code that cancels the right-click menu, or there's a transparent layer on top of the image, so your click lands on the layer and not the picture. The image itself is still on the page.

Question 2

Is it okay to save an image from a site that blocks right-click?

Accepted Answer

Whether you can reuse an image depends on its license, not on whether the site blocks saving. Blocking is a technical barrier and doesn’t change the copyright. For anything you plan to publish, find the original source or a licensed version.

Question 3

Does a screenshot lower the quality?

Accepted Answer

It’s limited to your screen’s pixels. Zoom the image so it fills the screen before you capture it. For the original file at full resolution, use Fix 4.

Question 4

The image I saved is much smaller than the one on the page. Why?

Accepted Answer

The page showed a preview. Look for an Open image or View full size button, or use Fix 4 to find the full-size address.

Question 5

Can I save an image on my phone if long-press doesn’t work?

Accepted Answer

In that case, taking a screenshot and cropping it is the go-to way.
